Straight from the SIA showroom floor

This week, the Snow-sports Industries of America (SIA) kicked off their Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show with a massive gathering of retailers, manufactures and exhibits debuting the latest and greatest coming out for next season. Held in Denver at the end of January every year, nearly 20,000 attendees come together to showcase the future of the industry. New products, marketing strategies and participation numbers are always hot topics of discussion. Members of the team will be hanging out at the event all week long, checking out all the hottest new products.

While there are a lot of cool things happening in the ski industry, these are the three products that we are most excited about:

Salomon S/Lab Shift – A Decade in the Making

Salomon S/Lab Shift Alpine Ski Binding

Salomon has already spent decades at the top in the binding game, and after a decade of some good-old fashioned R&D, their new S/Lab Shift’s are poised to be the next great backcountry touring bindings. The S/Lab Shift brings together over 300 parts for an ultra-lightweight binding (less than 4 pounds for the pair) that is compatible with AT, GripWalk and standard DIN Alpine boot soles. Ski touring types will love these bindings, as the range of motion on the way up is extremely efficient and the retention and energy transfer on the way down is quite powerful. Not just for the alpinist – resort skiers will appreciate the 6-13 DIN range with a performance that has been tested by top free-skiing pros.

New Rossignol Experience Line – Revamped and Ready to Play

Rossignol Experience 88Ti

For the 2019 season, Rossignol has revamped the long-standing, best-selling Experience Line. The new all-mountain shape and Progressive Side-cut add off-trail versatility and a more playful feel. LCT (Line Control Technology) uses a central power rail that runs from the tip to the tail for smoother flexing with added stability. The Women’s Experience Line features a women’s specific VAS Construction, which uses a vibration dampening elastomer in the fore-body of the ski, to smooth out the ride while also delivering the perfect mix of power and finesse without feeling too demanding.

New Atomic Vantage Series – Strong to the Core

Another buzz worthy line of skis making its debut this week is the redesigned Atomic Vantage. The skis’ new ProLite Construction was built from the ground up, and has the look of a game-changer. Start with an ultra-thin chassis, then add a layer of Titanium Tank Mesh that reinforces the ski in strategic areas for added power and stability and combine it into an incredibly lightweight, agile package. The new Vantage now features a 107mm, 97mm, 90mm and 86mm waist widths. The Titanium Tank Mesh can be found in the top 3 models, with a Carbon version available in the 97 C and 85 C. The Women’s Vantage Series has a 107 C, 90 Ti, 97 C and 86 C available. To say we can’t wait to test these skis in a few weeks would be an understatement.

Be sure to look for these and all of the exciting new 2019 products on this fall.
