The X-Drive 8.3 from Salomon is a great choice for the strong intermediate to expert skier looking for a lively frontside ski. The Light Density Wood Core, Basalt Layer, and Single Ti Laminate feel very light on your feet, stable at high speeds, and very agile. Salomon's X-Chassis Construction has diagonal strips of carbon fiber shaped into an X on the center of the ski that deliver a strong edge grip and responsiveness by increasing the torsional strength of the ski. The All-Terrain 2.0 Rocker Profile helps the ski enter and exit a turn quickly, while the camber underfoot springs you into your next turn. A RKS (Rocker Stabilizer) strengthens the 8.3 at the contact points with a composite fiber that adds an extra snap into your carves. A Semi-Sandwich Construction has a Cap Construction in the tips and tails for extra weight reduction and maneuverability, while an ABS Sidewall grips the firm conditions when you need it to.

Q: I'm trying to decide between x-drive 8.0 and 8.3. Is there much difference in performance of the two skis? I just crossed that threshold into intermediate level... I think and I'm wondering if one of these options would work best for me. Also, I'm 6'4, 192 lbs. I'm guessing 177ish ski size is plenty of ski for me?

A: Based on your weight and ability I would recommend the 176cm X-Drive 8.3 for you. The layer of Basalt adds more stability without extra weight that will be beneficial for a skier your size and ability. The stronger ski will allow you to improve and grow quicker.

Q: I am 6'-3" 235 lb intermediate skier who skies mainly on the east coast on front side groomers. Will this ski be stiff enough for me at my ability and weight? Would you recommend another ski, Blizzard Brahma, Latigo or something else in the salomon line?

Know the answer? Answer this question

A: This is a pretty tough ride and would work pretty well for your weight and ability. The 183cm will be the recommended size for you.
