The Salomon Gemma is a perfect option for the advanced to expert skier looking for a lightweight and snappy ski for the frontside of the mountain. New to the Gemma this season is Cork Comfortech Toe and Heel. Cork pads have been added underneath the binding platform to dampen vibrations and create an ultra-smooth ride for you. The Light Density Woodcore and Basalt Layer keep the weight of the Gemma low, but it can pack a powerful punch when you feel like stepping on the gas pedal. Salomon's Control Frame adds extra torsional strength and edge hold. The Gemma has an 85mm waist that can carve easily on the groomers and roll over small bumps and crud should it snow overnight on your trip. Carve Rocker engages the Gemma into turns quickly and efficiently. If you are a strong skier looking for a smooth ride that is loaded with power, the Salmon Gemma will be an excellent ski for you.

Q: I'm 5"6' and approximately 135-140lbs and was debating which size to buy. I'm an intermediate to advanced skier, I spend the majority of my time on groomers but want something that is capable of dealing with mixed conditions/terrain. I have never skied anything longer than a 160 so cant decide whether to go for the 163 or 157. Thanks!

Q: I wonder if the weight 2844g/Per Ski is including the binding? Compared to e.g. Atomic Vantage X 80 CTI W, which is 1.57 kg per ski, it seems awfully heavy Thanks!

By : Sussi, San Francisco, CA
Know the answer? Answer this question

A: At a little over 6lbs. per ski that does include the binding. Both of those are the quoted weight from the manufacturer.
