The Smash 7 from Rossignol is an excellent ski for the adventurous beginner to solid intermediate skier who will start to venture into more off piste terrain. The Smash 7 is made with the Rossitop Cap Construction that keeps the ski lightweight and forgiving enough for the beginner skier to have control, but solid enough for the intermediate to have responsiveness when they ramp up the speed or find themselves in challenging conditions. Powder Turn Rocker has rocker in the tip, camber underfoot and rocker in the tail that helps ease the ski into and out of turns while improving flotation when you start to get into the trees or soft snow. A Poplar/Fiberglass Core keeps the weight of the Smash 7 low and easy to ski. A 92mm waist will give you ample support as you ski down a groomer that has some crud, moguls or your first taste of fresh powder.

Q: I just received my Smash 7's in 180cm. I'm 6' tall and 220lbs. Expert snowboarder but at 47 I'm getting back into skiing after 30 years to ski along with the wife and daughter. I'm not a great skier yet but am fairly aggressive. Am I going to find 180 to long? I went by the size chart but they seem huge! Thanks in advance for any advice.

Know the answer? Answer this question

A: Based on your weight and aggressiveness, the 180cm is the same size that I would put you in as well. If you get a ski that is too short for your weight or aggressiveness it can actually take control away from you by skidding out as you exit a turn rather than deliver rebound and edge hold.

Q: I am a very good on-piste skier but I want to move into more off-piste. So should I be getting this ski or something for off-piste, but more directed to a advanced skier.

Know the answer? Answer this question

A: If you are a strong on-piste skier, the Smash 7 may actually hinder you. It is designed to be skied by someone who is still working on technique and may ski off-piste a little bit. I would suggest something along the lines of the Rossi Sky 7 HD for you to start getting into the powder and ungroomed terrain.
