All Mountain skis are for on-trail; some off-trail ability
Medium - ideal for all-mountain, off-trail versatility
Stiff - advanced to experts who want power and control
Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis for versatile all-mountain
The new Blizzard Rustler 9 is an excellent ski for the strong intermediate to expert skier who want versatility and stability without having to apply too much energy into their skis. Blizzard's Carbon Flipcore DRT has a layer of Titanal over the binding platform that extends out towards the tip and tail in the center of the ski that adds extra power, without adding too much extra weight. Carbon Inserts in the tip and tail adds better floatation and maneuverability while eliminating tip chatter when you are tearing down a groomer at high speeds. The Lite Core consists of ISO/Paulownia/Balsa/Poplar/Beech Woods that has a fine combination of strength and a lightweight feeling. Sandwich Compound Sidewalls grip and rip when conditions get firm. If you want a ski that feels light on your feet, yet powerful when you step on the gas, the new Rustler 9 will be a great ski for you.

Oh hi there, I'm Adam and I was just skiing on the Blizzard Rustler 9. Great ski for that strong intermediate to expert level skier who wants something that is going to spend the majority of their time on piste, and have no problems taking it off piste. It has Blizzards flip core DRT, which is this little metal insert. Its pretty much really under the foot of the ski, so you get a lot of rigidity and power when you're cranking on it. So it's a little bit softer in the tip, it's a little bit easier to roll into a turn. Skis great in the bumps, its very maneuverable under foot and just very stable at speed. Awesome ride for that strong intermediate to expert who wants to spend most of their time on piste, and have no problems heading off.Hide

Hi I'm Thom I just got done riding the Blizzard Rustler 9. This was a ski I was super excited about this year. It's an extension of the Rustler series, which I'm a huge fan of already. But this brings a little bit more of a firm snow and packed snow versatility to the mix. At 94 underfoot this thing is super easy to get up on edge. Thanks in part to the DRT construction, real firm edge hold all the way through the carve but a little looser in the tip and tail so you get a little bit of that freestyle playability - which really comes in handy when you take it off trail. This thing is super maneuverable, really easy to flick around skidding and smearing turns and bumps, crud, powder - super, super easy. So if you're spending most of your time on firm snow, but you want a ski that is not going to sacrifice that off trail performance - this is it.Hide

Hey I'm Kyle I just got off the Blizzard Rustler 9. This is definitely my favorite ski out of the Rustler series. It's also the narrowest. It was super light, super poppy, and it was really easy to kind of just hop around on. We have some mashed potatoes today and the partial metal in this ski really just plowed right through it. It held a really good edge with super lively on edge as well. Just a lot of fun.Hide
Q: Hi, I'm 5'9, 180 lbs, advancing intermediate, mostly on-piste in the NE and am looking to spread out to moguls and glades. What size would you recommend? Also looking at Rossi 84 HDs.
A: The 172cm would be a good option. It'll give you a little more maneuverability.

Q: How does the Blizzard Rustler 9 compare to the Blizzard Bushwacker? Which ski would be better in the moguls? I am an advanced skier 5'9" 155 lbs. I will spend 75% of my day on moguls or in the glades. I also prefer to ski shorter length skis to help me with maneuverability.
A: While they seem similar they are very different in feel. The Rustler 9 has a more modern and surfy feel to it. It makes for a ski that is very easy pivot and maneuver in tight spaces which makes it an awesome ski for bumps and glades. The Bushwacker has a more traditional sidecut that offers better edge hold but this also means the skis want to be on edge turning, making them less forgiving in bumps and trees. The Rustler 9 in a 172 sounds perfect for you.

Q: Hi! How does Rustler 9 compares to Volkl 90eight 2018 and Brahma CA 2018 ? Thanks!
A: The Rustler 9 has a much more modern and freestyle feel about it where it is just at home smearing and slashing turns as it is carving. It is really aimed at a skier that wants a playful set of skis. The 90Eight and Brahma CA are both more focused on a classic carving and directional feel. The Brahma CA is more of an on trail option and the 90Eight is a more versatile all mountain option.

Q: hello! thanks for the nice review! I hesitate on the length either 180 or 173. I am 5.10" and 143 pounds. Would it be too much the 180 one for me? thx!
A: Your height suggests the 180cm, where your weight suggests the 173cm. If you are an aggressive skier who spends more time off piste I would recommend the 180cm. If you are not very aggressive and spend more time on piste, I would recommend the 173cm.
