The Atomic Vantage 85 is one of the great value skis this season for the adventuress beginner to intermediate skier. The 85mm waist will carve very easily on the groomers, and give you extra stability when crud starts piling up. The All Mountain Rocker on the Vantage 85 has a rockered tip to absorb vibrations, and initiate turns easily. Rocker in the tail releases the ski from turns with minimal effort, and the camber underfoot will give you edge hold and rebound as you explore the mountain challenging yourself on terrain that you have never been on before. Atomic's new Firewall Sidewalls are thicker underneath the binding plate for extra power transmission, with flex grooves that allow the ski to have tremendous grip on firm snow. Beginners will find that the Light Wood Core forgiving enough to learn on, while the strong intermediate will enjoy the liveliness for carving short to medium radius turns. If you are an athletic beginner that wants to explore new terrain, or the intermediate looking for value, the all new Atomic Vantage 85 will be a great ski for you!

Q: Hi I am looking for skis that isn't over the top expensive, but can do double black trails and can do a mix of powder and packed snow. Would this ski work?

A: This would not be enough ski for you, but if you jump up to the Atomic Vantage 95 C, that ski is a great value that can easily handle the terrain you want to ride.

Q: I am looking for an all-mountain ski for my husband who is 6', 220 lbs and a beginner-intermediate skier. Would this 181cm ski be a good fit for him or would you recommend a different option?

A: This would be a perfect option for him, and the 181cm would be the optimal size. Based on his weight, I would suggest a more performance oriented binding like the Salomon STH WTR 13, Marker Griffon, Look SPX 12 or the Tyrolia Attack 13.

Q: Hi, I'm 140 lbs 5'6". I'm a solid intermediate skier, looking to stay at blue and maybe double blue. I currently live on the West coast, but would like to buy a ski that works on the east coast as well. Would this be a good ski?

A: This would be a good option, but you may benefit from stepping it up a notch to the Vantage 90 C. It is always a good idea to purchase a ski slightly above your ability to allow room for improvement. Based on your weight and ability I would recommend the 165cm.

Q: Hi, I'm a experienced young athletic skier, 6', 75 kg, looking for a good all-mountain twin tip ski. I would like the twin tip for occasionally riding switch with friends, not for multiple days in the park. I enjoy skiing fast over a range of conditions. I have limited off-piste experience and am looking for more. Would you recommend these skis, and if not can you suggest any others?

A: By the sounds of it, this ski in the 173cm will make a great option for you, but you may want to step it up to the Vantage 95C for a stronger off piste performance.

Q: I am 5'11 and weigh 220 pounds. I am intermediate skier, blues almost all the time, but squeeze several blacks in on a given day. I want a wider ski, preferably in the 85mm range, and an all mountain ski. I ski mostly groomers and crud in NC, but enjoy a some light snow in NC and WV. I don't ski too fast or aggressive but not slow either. Just all around intermediate. Would this ski be good for me and if so, what length?

A: The Vantage 80 would make a pretty solid ski for you. Based on your weight, ability, location and preferred terrain the 181cm will be the optimal size for you.

A: Based on your weight and ability, I would not recommend the Vantage 85 for you. The Vantage 85 is much more suited for a lighter, not nearly as strong of a skier as you are describing yourself. I would encourage you to look at the Vantage 90 CTI in a 176cm to give you the performance that matches your ability.

A: The 165cm would be the optimal size for your weight and ability. I would recommend the Atomic Warden 11 as the best binding to pair with the Vantage 85. The 90mm brake size will be the perfect fit.
