The Atomic Live Fit 90 is a great boot for the advanced skier who has had a hard time finding a boot that matches their wide foot. Two Live Fit Zones on the lateral and medial sides of the foot stretch out to match the shape of your foot when your foot is inside the boot. If your foot maintains its natural shape without being compressed you have better balance, warmer toes, and more control over your skis. The 102 mm last fits medium to wide feet, and the cuff can accommodate medium to wide shafts of the leg. Two micro adjustable Mega Aluminum buckles make the Live Fit 90 very easy to enter and exit. A 45 mm strap acts like a third buckle higher up on the boot to increase your drive and power. The asymmetrical Pro T2 Liner is moderately stiff and resists packing out. The 90 flex is perfect for a bigger or taller skier to control their skis. A squared off toe box works well for all foot shapes. If you are looking for a boot that has a wide fit without a squishy flex the Atomic Live Fit 90 would fit you great.

Q: Would this boot be a good choice for someone who had a torn achilles and extensive reconstructive surgery, leaving the affected ankle quite substantially larger than the the other? My son had a torn achilles followed by a staph infection. The tendon has healed, but he is left with several inches of extra tissue that padded the achilles while it healed. My local ski shop said to look for 2 buckle boots. Is this a good one? He plans to get back on the slopes this winter.

A: First of all, best wishes to your son. It's wonderful to hear that all went well and he will be back on the slopes this winter! Yes, according to the advice you were given, this boot should work fine; it is a two-buckle boot. Of course the true test will be how it feels to your son when he has it on.
