2013 Volkl Kink Ski Review

Reviewed by Brad (Skis.com Staff)

Read the Review Transcript:
Hey, I'm Brad, I just got off the new Volkl Kink 179. I'm gonna give this ski a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. I like the early rocker on it, definitely in an all mountain, or directional twin. So it skied a little bit better underfoot, skied a little bit more like an all mountain ski, but really I didn't find it to be much of a twin at all. Definitely got hung up when your trying to turn around, an ski backwards on it. I found that it needed a lot of speed to get up, to make faster turns, it was slow to transition originally. So I think there are skis out there that ski a little bit snappier. As far as weight goes, I was really impressed at how light this ski was. For us lighter guys who don't want a really heavy ski for are all mountain, cause we want something that's a little bit easier to control underfoot. This definitely has an advantage, but definitely not one of the better skis in terms of ease in carving, and edge hold.
