Womens Pant Shopping Tips

Women take shopping seriously, and buying ski pants is no exception. Skis.com understands, and our buying staff has ordered the best selection from a variety of brands including Obermeyer, Nils, Marker, Bogner, Burton, Columbia, Descente, Kjus, and more. To also help women choose the best pair of ski pants for them, we’ve created a womens ski pants buyers guide that gives more detailed information for those who need a little more information.

To help you narrow the vast selection of womens pants, the left hand navigation menu has a variety of refinements. The basic refinements allow you to search by brand, color, price and size. More detailed refinements allow you to get into the specifics of womens pants like type, cut, fabric properties like waterproofing and breathability, and special features like thigh zip venting and articulated knees.

There are a variety of types of womens pants for skiing and snowboarding. The types of pants include Insulated, Shell, Stretch, and 3-in-1. Insulated pants are the most common style as they provide better protection from the elements since they help keep you warmer too. Insulated pants use a quality waterproof and breathable fabric on the exterior with a layer of insulation and a lining inside the womens pants. Shell pants use the same type of exterior fabric as insulated pants, but they don’t have the insulation and lining. Stretch womens pants aren’t as popular as they used to be, but plenty of women prefer the slimmer look they provide. Stretch pants aren’t insulated and are quite snug fitting making them difficult to layer under, so if you tend to get extremely cold on the slopes stretch pants might not be the best choice. The 3-in-1 style womens pants aren’t very popular, but they are practical for skiers who ski at resorts where the temperatures and conditions vary significantly. The 3-in-1 pants are essentially shell pants with an insulating layer which can be removed, giving you a pair of lounge pants, shell pants, and insulated pants.

The ability to sort the selection of womens pants by cut gives women the ability to choose a style which best fits their body type. The cuts are broken out into slim, regular, and full. Slim styles will fit smaller through the thighs than a regular cut, while the full silhouette will be roomier in the thighs.

In addition to the cut, some styles of womens pants are available in long and short lengths. The ability to get certain styles of pants in various lengths gives petite and very tall women the ability to get the size they need without having to settle on pants which don’t fit the way they would prefer.
