Ski Accessories

Ski accessories encompass a large portion of the ski gear. Ski accessories include items like ski helmets, goggles, helmet cameras, boot heaters, ski wax, bags and backpacks, car racks and more. While ski accessories aren’t technically required pieces of equipment for skiing many of them are highly recommended to make your skiing experience safer, easier, and/or more enjoyable.

Helmets and goggles are key pieces of safety equipment in terms of ski accessories. Helmets are certified by the ASTM to provide a consistent level of protection across the industry. Ski helmets are different than other types of helmets because they are designed and tested to protect you from injuries that might occur from falls experienced skiing as opposed to other sports. Ski goggles are important to wear to not only protect your eyes but help improve your vision. Many ski goggles have lenses with specialty tints or coatings on them help improve vision in various light conditions. The better you can see the variances in snow conditions the safer you can be skiing.

Often overlooked ski accessories are boot heaters and dryers. Boot heaters are installed in your ski boots and use battery packs to help keep your toes warm all day on the slopes. Making sure that you have warm toes can improve your skiing since you have greater control over small stabilizing movements you may need to make with your feet while skiing. Boot dryers are great ski accessories for the skier or family of skiers who take weekend or longer trips. It is important to make sure that your boots are dry when you take to the slopes, which can be difficult on multi day trips. Boot heaters are better for the boot liners than placing the boots near a fire or using a hair dryer to dry them out.

Helmet cameras are the hot new ski accessories to have. Helmet cameras can be mounted to your helmet to shoot first person perspective videos without having to hold the camera. The two major brands are GoPro and Contour and make great ski accessories for families or extreme skiing junkies that want to catch every turn on camera.

Ski accessories make great gifts for the avid skier. For the next to impossible to shop for relative goggles, a helmet camera, boot dryers, wax, or even a new boot bag are great stocking stuffers or gifts.
