The Volkl Yumi makes a great ski for a wide range of skiers looking for all-mountain versatility. An 83mm waist can zip over crud, carve on the groomers, and dabble in light powder on any mountain. Full length Vertical Sidewalls provides a solid grip on firm snow. Volkl's Multi-Layer Wood Core uses a dense ash wood under the binding platform for extra strong screw retention. Poplar wood is used in the tips and tails of the Yumi for a firm, but lightweight, and easy to control flex pattern. Rocker in the tip initiates turns easily, while traditional camber on the rest of the ski delivers rebound and control as you explore your local ski resort.

Hi I'm Julie, I just got off the Volkl Yumi. I give this ski a 5 out of 5 star rating. I thought it was an excellent ski for an advanced intermediate all the way up to an expert level skier. Normally it's just rated up to an advanced level, but I really think that you can get on this ski as an expert level skier, and have a lot of fun with it. It's a little bit narrower waisted than the Kenja, so it makes it a little more front side oriented it's a very lively ski. It makes great short and long radius turns, it's an absolute blast to ski.

Hey Jess here, I just got off the Volkl Yumi's. I would give this ski 4 out of 5 stars. It's an intermediate level ski but it still does very well with some of the higher speeds, so if you're an intermediate skier looking to get a little bit more comfortable with some of the higher speeds, this would be a great ski for you. It's still very stable underfoot, even when you're going a little higher speeds. It likes a little bit shorter turns, so you don't have to be comfortable with those big, long turns quite yet. It's very, very responsive and it's quick edge to edge, it's very easy to maneuver still. So this would be a great ski for that intermediate level skier.

Q: I am probably an advanced intermediate skier. I am not aggressive for the most part although in good conditions I really enjoy fast controlled runs. I tense up on speed when I hit crud and chopped up heavier powder because I feel like I don't have control. I want to be able to ski through all of that and keep up the speed of my ski buddies but want to feel the confidence I feel in optimum conditions. My skis now are Rossignol Zenith 154 but I can't seem to keep up speed with my friends. I am 5'5 and 123 lbs, and 60 yrs old. I ski mainly the trails only because I have never felt control in the trees. I would like to up grade and was considering the Volkl Kenja or Yumi. I would like to be a more aggressive skier. What do you recommend?

Q: Hi, I am an advance- intermediate skier and 5'6 & 129 pounds. Stay on the front side of the mountain for the most part and have an average style- not too aggressive or cautious. I am struggling to determine if the 161 or 154 would suit me best.

Q: I'm 5' 6" and heavier than average skier. I typically ski 165 length skis. 168 seems to long given my height--would I be better going down to 161 in these?

Know the answer? Answer this question

A:Your weight is the most determining factor in selecting the length of your ski. If you are a very aggressive skier the 161cm will be a good size for you.
