The Volkl Shiro is a new ski specifically for hard charging advanced junior skiers. Built on a 100mm waist profile, the Shiro has all the width necessary to float young skiers in deep powder and crud but still hold on to some hard packed performance. The width on the Shiro takes an advanced and technically sound skier to get the best out of the ski. Borrowing from Volkl's adult skis the Shiro uses Power Construction, an internal torsion box for power that transfer energy into the full sidewalls and straight into the edge for endless edge hold, amazing stability and a sensitive touch uncommon to skis this wide. By adding a Multi Layer Wood core to the power construction the flex pattern is tweaked to be very solid underfoot with a mellow tip and tail, giving the Shiro a powerful feel when charging hard with a playful light feel at lower speeds that also make for fun smearing and sliding in powder. As the final touch the Shiro uses ELP Full Rocker, tip to tail rocker with no camber, for bottomless float no matter how much snow with unlimited maneuverability and when tipped onto edge still maintains tip to tail edge contact to retain immense stability. No longer do aggressive groms need to size up to short adult skis if they want a big mountain ride, they have a ski that will do it all in the Shiro.
