The Volkl Chiara is in the new womens specific Essenza line this season. The Chiara enjoys medium to fast speeds, for the intermediate to advanced skier who spends most of her time on all of the groomers. The Dual wood core is in cased in polyurethane with extra glass sheets on the top and bottom, to give the Chiara lots of snap and rebound. A layer of steel gives the Chiara some power and strength. The Chiara utilizes Volkls womens specific Bio-Logic Technology. Bio-Logic addresses three womens specific issues in skiing, stance, geometry, and flex. A more level stance requires less overloading of the quad muscles, which feel the most strain in a turn. Better balanced muscle action between the quads and hamstrings, means better performance, less fatigue and added protection in the knee joint. Bio-Logic side cuts are wider in the tip, and narrower in the tail then mens skis, causing the ski to have a tighter radius in the tip of the ski and a longer radius in the tail. This shape causes the skier to complete the turn with less effort, reducing the load on the knees. Tip rocker makes the ski more maneuverable in any snow condition. The Bio-Logic flex is stiffer in the shovel of the ski, for quick turn initiation, and softer in the tail causing you to exit the turn easier, resulting in more control. The Bio-Logic xTERALight core uses lighter weight Pawlonia materials, with channels that are milled out of the bottom shed weight, and add a snappy, poppy performance. The Chiara is a perfect ski for women who enjoy tight quick turns a medium to fast speeds who is not afraid of any groomer on the mountain.

Comments about Volkl Chiara Womens Skis with Marker 4 Motion 11.0 TC Essenza Bindings:

Hi, I'm Julie, just got off the Volkl Chiara part of the Essenza series this year. I give this ski a 4/5 star rating. I thought it was really nice for an intermediate, good solid intermediate level skier, through an advanced skier. Gets a little chattery in the tip, do to the tip rocker ,so there was a weird sensation for me, from a Volkl. I think it holds really well under the foot, really easy to initiate the turn. Its a pretty lightweight ski, this ones great for a intermediate level skier.

Comments about Volkl Chiara Womens Skis with Marker 4 Motion 11.0 TC Essenza Bindings:

Hi, this is Emily, I just got off the Volkl Chiara. I recommend this ski for a intermediate skier, whose looking to progress their skills into the advanced set range. I give this a 4/5 for that skier. It held a really nice edge, was easy to initiate the turn, and to get out of it. It was nice and lively in and out of the turns as well. The reason I give it a 4/5 instead a 5/5, is that I thought it was a little bit to kick like at the end of some of your turns. On the flip side, if you put the energy into it, that means the skis gonna give it right back to you. For the intermediate, looking to become more of an advanced skier, who likes to make nice hard turns, this would be a great ski for you.

Comments about Volkl Chiara Womens Skis with Marker 4 Motion 11.0 TC Essenza Bindings:

Hi, I'm Annie, and I just rode Chiara Volkl, in a 155. I give this a strong 5/5. It was fun, poppy, has ton of energy, for the advanced, advanced expert skier. I didn't think I was gonna be able to take it seriously in this plum color, but I absolutely loved it.

  • Q:

Does this ski perform well in powder? Do its tips chatter when going at a high speed on groomers? How does it perform on ice? I am looking into these skis.

      A:

This ski is not a powder ski or designed to be an off trail performer. At 77mm underfoot is is aimed to perform on groomed and packed snow. As an intermediate to advanced ski it will start to chatter at very high speeds, but is very predictable and easy to control. The more narrow waist profile and metal in the construction does mean it will grip well on ice.
