The Salomon X-Max 100 is a great ski boot for the strong intermediate to expert skier who has a narrow to medium width forefoot. The Twinframe Construction uses a stiffer and stronger plastic on the sole of the boot that enhances responsiveness and control when you are ripping down the mountain at fast speeds. Salomon's 360 Degree Custom Shell Technology is an easy fit solution that provides a comfortable and performance oriented fit, in little time. An Authorized Salomon Dealer can heat the shell in a special oven, then the hot shell is placed on your foot. As the shell cools it can adapt to the shape of your foot. A 24mm Oversized Pivot connects the upper cuff to the lower shell, and drives your energy right to the edges of your skis. If you want a race like feel out of your ski boots, without the ultra-narrow fit, the Salomon X-Max 100 will be a great option.

Q: Gentlemen, I read the specs. on both the Salmon X-Max 100 and X-Pro 100, but what is the real differences between the two. the X-Pro seams to have a different liner and maybe a different flew control ? does either of them have cuff adjustment ? In your opinion which is the better of two ?

A: The biggest difference between the X-Max and the X-Pro shell is the fit. The X-Max starts off with a 98mm last, where the X-Pro starts off with a 100mm last. Once molded the X-Max cannot stretch out as far as the X-Pro does. X-Max liners have a bit more of a race like feel to them, where the X-Pro liners are a bit more plush. The X-Max also has a narrower fit in the shaft of the leg. The Custom Shell material is in the cuff as well that self-shapes during the molding process. The better of the two boots is the one that matches your foot and leg shape the best.
