Awesome downhill boot
Comments:
These are great bindings - I bought them for the 2013 season, and felt like the skiing experience couldn't get any better! I grew up ski racing and last year used these boots to forerun several collegiate races (because I was lazy to get back into my Tecnica Diablo 130s). The 120 flex didn't seem to hinder my performance any, and I felt completely at home on my race skis, and a whole lot more comfortable. They were fun in the terrain park as well as backcountry powder charging and cliff dropping. They provide perfect control at high speeds and groomers and truly allow one to feel connected to the snow. They are pleasantly comfortable for an everyday all-mountain boot. These boots are a perfect fit for almost any high performance skier looking to get the most of what the mountain has to offer!

The only drawback was the hike mode feature - its design could be more solid and the boot entry. On cold days, it can be as difficult if not more than getting into a pair of race boots. If they're warm, it's ok - but that isn't always the case. As for the hikewalk mode switch: Aaweak spring holds up the lever which keeps the binding in walk mode. One of my 2 boots was defective and would automatically click itself back into ski mode after one step. I'm sure this was just a manufacturing defect and is not an issue on most boots - Salomon replaced the boot without question.

I used these boots for skinning in the Sun Valley backcountry - a three day trip of 3k verticalday, and I was fine - not as fast as my dynafitted friends, but I was back there and loving it! I don't have the means for a full BC setup, and this was a perfect substitute. I also used them in conjunction with snowmobiling - hiking up the final steep pitch after approaching the mountain via sled. They are great for short skin ascents and retain the downhill ski ability on the way down.
