Medium – ideal for all-mountain, off-trail versatility

Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis for versatile all-mountain

The Salomon Quest-98 is the best ski at that waist width to ski in powder from any manufacture. It has a softer flex so it loses some ability for the aggressive skier to lay down strong and powerful carves, but its performance in powder is unmatched by any other 96-100 wasted ski. A Full Wood Core gives you a very lively feel, that makes the Quest 98 very snappy. The Honeycomb Tip is ultra lightweight, and the Hook Free Taper gives you a highly maneuverable feeling in the deep stuff. Salomons Utility Rocker has rocker in the tip to keep you floating, and rocker in the tail to help you smear your turns. The Semi-Sandwich Construction is very light and snappy for quick tight turns in the trees. If you are looking for a ski that will spend most of its time off the trail, but is less than 100 mm under foot the Salomon Quest-98 is the ski for you.

Skill Range:

  • Utility Rocker
  • Hook Free Taper

Our favorite ski of the year!
Comments:
Actually we'd give it a 4.5 stars if we could. The Q-98 (women’s Q-96 Lumen) is your quintessential western “one ski quiver”. In the uber-popular 95-100m underfoot category, it does everything well, anywhere on the mountain, and in any conditions.

Amazing ski!
Comments:
I live in the Northeast and this ski is great. It is a wide all mountain ski and surprisingly it holds an edge like a champ on groomers and poor conditions on the east coast. It is amazing in the trees and off piste. It floats like heaven and turns like a pro. This is a great ski as its light and can be used for anything. I recommend this ski to someone who lives out west as its perfect for those conditions, and someone on the east coast who likes to venture off into the backcountry and glades and occasionally hit the groomers. It is a fun and playful ski!

2014 Salomon Quest 98 Ski Review
Comments:
Hi. I'm Steve. I just got off the Salomon Quest 98. I give this ski 3.5 out of 5 stars. It skied really nice at modest speeds. I thought it was a little chattery when I got to high speeds. It was very stable though. If you like long wide, arcing turns, this is a strong ski for that. It didn't do well in short turns. It didn't really want to do short but if you like big graceful wide turns and a strong stable ski, something that would be good for out west in groomed and powder conditions, this could be a great all-around ski for you.

2014 Salomon Quest 98 Ski Review
Comments:
Hi. This is Trey. I just got done riding Salomon's Quest 98. I give this ski 4.5 out of 5 stars. I actually really like this ski. It fits the way that I ski well so very versatile. You have to stay on top of it but if you do you definitely get rewarded. You can push it as hard as you want. you can throw it around very easily yet it's very stable at speed. I felt like I could get it down through some tight spots and skid turns when I wanted to and then throw it right back up on edge. If you ski kind of cautiously and a little bit slower you're probably not going to like this ski because you definitely have to stay on top of it. When you do, you're fully rewarded. So, aggressive advanced-intermediates through the expert skier, one ski to take out west or even just for your home skiing on the east coast or midwest, I think you'll really like it.

2014 Salomon Q 98 Ski Review
Comments:
Hey. It's Hunter here. Just got off the Q98 from Salomon and this is a 5 star ski for me. I gave it 5 stars because it's so smooth it feels like surfing. For your advanced skier that wants something that's just buttery all the way through a turn. It's not jarring, it's not aggressive. There's not a ton of rebound energy but it still holds an edge like no other. Great choice for your smooth all-mountain skier.

2014 Salomon Quest 98 Ski Review
Comments:
Hi. Thom here with the Salomon Q98. I'm going to give this 4.5 out of 5 stars. Real solid ski here. Super easy to engage, tons of edge hold. It's not the most exciting ski, it's not going to wow you but what it's going to do is be predictable, calm and just buttery smooth. It's not something that's going to explode out of the turn so for your intermediate skier that wants something that's wide, you can jump on this and be real happy but for your advanced skier that's looking for that one-ski-does-everything and doesn't want something that they're really going to have to work through all day, this is absolutely a good choice.

2014 Salomon Quest 98 Ski Review
Comments:
I'm Adam and I was just skiing on the Salomon Quest 98. I give this ski 4.5 out of 5 stars. Really light, snappy construction. I think it tends to favor somebody who is a little bit lighter weight versus a little bit heavier of a skier. If you're looking for an easy ski to do short turns, have a little bit of versatility if things get a little bit bumpy, a little bit cruddy, this would be a great ski for you. 4.5 out of 5.
