Exploring is supposed to be fun, and should not be limited to the aggressive skiers. The Salomon Quest 120 is here to help the less aggressive skier. The Quest 120 has a stiff flex and a forgiving liner. Using Salomon's Ride and Hike Technology, the Quest 120 makes boundaries irrelevant. The Quest 120 is just as capable up hill as it is down. A quick cuff release system makes ascending or hiking in the Quest 120 easy and comfortable, while a true alpine overlap provides a tight wrap and precise power transmission. The Quest 120 sole plates can also be switched over to touring soles compatible with all touring bindings. The CustomFit Performance liner with Biovent aid in keeping feet warm and dry for sun up to sun down comfort, and at a scant 1.9kg the Quest is comparable in weight to most full blown touring boots. Skiers looking to wet their feet in some light touring, or simply find out how fun life can be when boundaries are simply looked at as suggestions should certainly consider the Quest 120 from Salomon.
Q: Based on measurements (tape at home and tool in the shop), the boot I have is the correct size. However, it feels tight (to the point of being painful). I've used them only once - will this tightness go away?
A: All ski boots, including the Salomon Quest 120, will break in about a half size larger once the liner has packed in and formed to your foot shape. However this boot does have a lower width and volume, so it may be possible you need a model with a better accommodation for your foot shape.
