 Overview

The Elan Amphibio 84 XTi is an aggressive and nimble ski for experts looking for the ultimate in maneuverability and stability. The XTi has a considerable notch up in stiffness both longitudinally and torsionally from the regular Amphibio 84 Ti. The extra layer of Dual Shaped Ti in conjunction with the Power Wood Core is powerful enough to charge down the frontside of the mountain. Elan's Amphibio 4D Technology reduces vibrations by 30% by having titanium shaped into a convex tip, and concave tail. The Amphibio Rocker along with the new tip and tail shapes makes this beast of a ski highly maneuverable and easy to manipulate it into any turn shape you want very easily. The new thinner profile loses an extra 10% of the weight of previous models. Elan's RST Sidewall Construction delivers your energy directly to the edges of your skis, while the Fusion Binding System creates a perfect synergy and energy transfer between your bindings and skis. If you are looking for a new twist in a very stable and highly maneuverable ski you need to grab the Elan Amphibio 84 XTi.

Bowser's Chowder Spoon
Comments:
I demoed these skis at Sugarbush today. Conditions started off fast and firm which is right in this ski's wheelhouse. I tested the 176cm version (I am 5'10" and normally ski 167 K2 Comanche pro's). This ski is extremely difficult to over power and its race pedigree is clearly evident. They are chiral, meaning there are left and right skis -similar to true slalom skis. I felt very safe on these skis and chatter is miraculously completely non-existent. As a downside, this ski is very unforgiving in soft moguls, however, someone with flawless or better technique than myself might feel otherwise. I believe its carving characteristics might lend it too handling icy moguls better. I love the shovel shape on this ski, it has very nice looking lines and lends itself to pushing mounded up bits of dry or sticky chowder snow right out of the way. It is ideal for aggressively skiing East Coast groomers. I think you will find this ski gently prompts the skier to use good technique and should be great for the aspiring advanced intermediate hot shot all the way up to the seasoned expert weekend warrior. Players of Nintendo 64 Mario Cart could liken this to playing as Bowser: heavy and slow for "new players" but a powerful tool for an experienced player. This ski is equivalent to unleashing the dark ski of the force into your skiing. I recommend choosing a slightly longer ski than you normally would. For my personal use, I would choose this same model ski in narrowed waist version as I often ski on the ice steeps of Pennsylvania. Excellent, fun, serious ski Overall, and did I mention FAST!!

Hi my name is Steve, I just got off the Elan Amphibio 84 Xti. I give this 4 out of 5 stars. This is a great intermediate advanced-intermediate ski for someone who wants a really easy to turn ski, the Amphibio with the rocker on one side and the camber on the other side makes it really easy to transition in the turn. Very smooth and easy transferring from edge to edge, nice easy round carving shape and if you're looking for a ski thats just not super hard to turn, and just really friendly. Big sweet spot really easy to sort of jump on it after a long warm summer and you havent been on your skis. It just wants to ski nice and easy and makes it really fun and easy to do so.

Hey I'm Paulie and I just skied the Elan Amphibio 84 XTI. I give this ski 4 out of 5 stars. Its got great swing weight in the tip and tail and it's super easy to handle, but it holds up real nice at speed. This is for a solid intermediate skier who likes to ski at moderate speeds. Compared to the 80 it's got a lot more life to it and it gives you a lot more feedback. Solid 4 out of 5 stars.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Josh H.
Comments:
Hi, my name is Josh and I just got done riding the Amphibio 84 by Elan. I give this ski 4.5 out of 5 stars. Held a great edge. Really liked the long radius turns. Made pretty good medium radius turns. This would be a great ski for that advanced skier trying to kind of push himself into that expert category. Loved the kind of hard pack frontside skiing. Again, 4.5 out of 5 stars.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Thom
Comments:
Hi, I'm Thom and I just got off the Elan Ampihibio 84 XTI. This is the bigger brother to the TI. This is a 4 out of 5 star ski as well. This thing has a little bit more guts, it's a little bit beefier ski. It definitely handles speed. If you want that kind of medium to longer arc, definitely look here. It's got tremendous stability, super easy on the edge, real quick edge-to-edge as well. So, if it's a solid, strong, strong intermediate skier up through an expert level who is looking for frontside performance, the 84 is a great ski. 4 out of 5 stars.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Jeff S.
Comments:
Hey, this is Jeff. I just got off the Elan Amphibio 84 XTI. I give this 5 out of 5 stars. This ski is a ton of fun. It's definitely for an advanced skier, recreational advanced all the way through expert. It skis incredibly stable at speed. Short radius turns, long radius turns; it's actually one of the only skis in the world that's constructed left and right so each ski is built as a left ski or a right ski. Got to give this a try. Definite 5 out of 5. Elan XTI 84 from Elan.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Ryan
Comments:
Hi, I'm Ryan. I just got off the Elan Amphibio 84 XTI. I give this ski 5 out of 5 stars. It's a great ski for anyone who wants to do short to medium length turns. It's a very energetic ski that really pushes you into the next turn so long as you're on it. This is a great ski for an advanced level skier who really wants to tear up the frontside or get a little bit into the back.

This ski is meant for the advanced to expert skier looking for a great frontside carving ski and it does that phenomenally. Great at long turns. You can push it in the short turns. It gives you great rebound and feedback. Overall, I'd give this ski 5 stars.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Mike B.
Comments:
Hey, I'm Mike. I just got done skiing the Elan Amphibio 84 XTI. 5 out of 5 for this ski. It's got some interesting technology in it. Left and right ski. It's got a little bit of tip rocker, it's got metal in it, it's got interesting tail so basically it will carve like a dream but as soon as you want to get out of the carve, not a problem. They call it the release on demand technology. It's really interesting. This is going to be really good for your intermediate all the way through your expert level skier really looking to carve some hard turns on the groomers but if you get into some questionable snow, some chopped up conditions, it should handle just fine. Elan Amphibio 84 XTI - 5 out of 5.

2016 Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Ski Review by Adam
Comments:
Hi, my name's Adam and I was just skiing on the Elan Amphibio 84 XTI. I give this ski 4 out of 5 stars. It's a fantastic carver for that advanced to expert skier who is looking to make quick, tight carves. Pretty much strictly on-trail. It's very, very easy to transition your weight from edge-to-edge and turn especially in the quick, tight stuff. 4 out of 5.

Q: Are the bindings mounted or are they shipped loose?
Asked : Oct 10, 2016
By : Tom, San Antonio, TX
Know the answer? Answer this question

A:We can only mount bindings if boots are purchased with the skis as a package. The actual boot that is going into the binding is required for a visual inspection and physical testing to ensure that they function correctly together. Please understand that this is for your safety.

Q: is the metal cover on ski tip necessary or can it be removed?
Asked : Mar 13, 2016
By : Derek, Edmonds wa
Know the answer? Answer this question

A:The Tip Protector on the Amphbio 84 is not a necessary piece, but it does prevent water or snow from seeping into the core of the ski, and it prevents knicks, chips or scratches. It would be a little bit of work to remove it. I would suggest that you keep it on just to increase the life of the ski and keep it looking its best.
