The Magnum 8.1 IQ Max CA is the Swiss army knife of the Magnum series. Built around an 81mm waist profile and a medium turn shape the Magnum 8.1 is most happy on trail but has enough width to comfortably slay open bowls and the occasional tree or bump run. With IQ Max Sandwich Compound Sidewall construction as its backbone the Magnum 8.1 has all the strength you could ever ask for and edge hold that last for days. Even the Biggest of skiers will find it impossible to overpower a properly sized Magnum 8.1. Backing up the construction is a full wood core which adds huge amounts of pop and power to the Magnum 8.1 and helps it kill vibration for a very connected feel with the snow. To help make the Magnum 8.1 as versatile as possible it gets slight tip rocker. Serving two purposes the tip rocker allows the Magnum 8.1 to enter turns with little effort considering how much energy it gives back and allows the tip of the ski to plane above chop and soft snow for a smooth feel on inconsistent snow. Topping the 8.1 off is the IQ Max binding system, specifically designed to increase the edge to edge quickness of skis over 80mm underfoot. The end result is a ski that loves to turn, does so easily, and will never let go. For on trail dominance with the ability to comfortably dabble in off trail conditions hop on the Magnum 8.1 IQ Max.

Q: I am a strong athletic 58 year old, 5' 10", 175 lb intermediate that skis mostly west cost groomers but do venture off trail. I'm fairly aggressive and like to ski fast. Plan on beginning with NASTAR this year. I like the looks and reviews on this ski but want to make sure I'm getting the right ski and size?

A: At your height, weight and skill level, the 172cm Blizzard Magnum 8.1 IQ Max CA skis will be an ideal choice for you. As a slightly fatter all mountain carver, it will allow you to charge the slopes but still handle off piste conditions on those days where you are feeling daring. All in all this would make a great ski for you.

Q: Hi, it's Ken here. I am 6'1. 220 lbs. . Average skier. Used the Blizzard Magnum 8.0 CA skies in Europe. Would the magnum 8.1 IQ be a better ski due to weight and ability restraints.

Know the answer? Answer this question

A: The Blizzard Magnum 8.1 IQ skis will actually perform fairly identically to the 8.0 CA's you had skied prior. The bindings will be hefty enough to hold you even at a higher weight.
