Overview

Atomic bindings are state of the art. That's why the same Full Flex mechanism that's in Race 614 has dominated World Cup racing for the last decade. Why should racers be the only ones to get feather-weight bindings? Now they're not. Atomic is proud to announce the weight of the Race 614 has been reduced by 1.1 pounds, making Atomic the lightest Full Flex bindings available. Race 614 delivers unprecedented performance and risk reduction. Twin Full Flex allows the heel and toe to float for a round ski arc and unparalleled edge contact.

I installed a pair...
Comments:
I installed a pair of Atomic 614s on Atomic ST11s last season. Initially, I had a lot of issues with unprovoked pre-release, particularly with the toes. I had the bindings set to the correct DIN setting for my weight and for a Type II skier by the installing shop, but I was releasing while skiing (fast, but not a lot of shocks from bumps, etc.). I have never had any problems staying in other high-end bindings at a Type II setting. In the end, I cranked the settings up to Type III level, and haven't had any issues since -- but it seems odd to me that a "Race" binding should have pre-release issues in this fashion. Yes, I would probably still buy them, but only because they're required for Atomic race skis.
